Glasgow Climate Change Conference
October-November 2021. Youth4Climate.
6 years after the Paris Climate Agreement appointment in 2021 for strong, global and ambitious action.
The future of our planet is in danger, demanding immediate action. We call for Collaboration!
The UK has been assuming the COP26 Presidency, in partnership with Italy. The UK and Italy are committed to putting climate change and the reversal of biodiversity loss at the heart of the multilateral agenda in 2021, including through the G7, G20 and COP26 Presidencies.
As part of the UK-Italy Presidency Partnership year, we share the need to build back better following the impact of COVID-19. Lawyers are called upon to lead positive change on a grand scale.
We're pleased to explore the campaign themes and related topics of the COP26 summit, November 2021, Glasgow.
The campaigns and related topics for COP26 include Adaptation and Resilience, Nature, Energy Transition, Clean Road Transport and Finance and Future of Cities .
We have been started with Nature, Adaptation and Resilience, with our Initiatives: Scuola Legale Diffusa, Mindfulness Approach, Golden Hours, Series on Mindfulness, It's fun to walk together, Pontem , Porta , Praesto , Pontem 0921, seeing in Legal Mindfulness and Mediterranean Lifestyle nature- based solutions for Sustainable Development and emphasizing the crucial role that nature plays as in Mindfulness so in the Mediterranean Lifestyle, not only in combating climate change, but also in forwarding Integral Ecology, in sustaining healthy life, nutritious diets, national economies, in moving towards well-being and happiness, in boosting efficiency in legal service delivery.
Meeting these challenges requires an inclusive approach and a broad diversity of perspectives.
That is why we have chosen diversity, involvement and sustainability as the themes of Y2022.
Sustainability has many different definitions, but its essence is articulated by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2015. Sustainability is a complex area to manage. Recently ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance factors) have been changed.
We are keeping up to date with ESG developments. We increase awareness that a failure to address these matters can be detrimental both financially and socially. To contribute to achieving SDGs, being aware of the most urgent needs for our digitalized and globalized world, we will conduct the sustainability-minded project "Mehr Licht! "- to discover, to navigate a transition to a sustainable future.
"The people who will judge us are children not yet born and their children, and we are now coming center stage before a vast and uncountable audience of posterity, and we must not fluff our lines or miss our cue, because if we fail they will not forgive us. "
- UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson
For us, the Mediterranean approach to development -one based on respect for human rights, support for different scales producers, cooperatives and the involvement of local communities- is aimed at enhancing all voices, including less heard, in order to give them strength, as has been done for years in the projects of equal gender / race rights. This is why during Y2022 we want to talk not only about food, climate, ecology, water and carbon but also about economic and social sustainability, the integral ecology and mindfulness. We are convinced that local and global can be complementary, and that it is possible to transmit local values and traditions on a global scale in the respect of sustainability.
The legal profession, with its privileged access to all facets of society, is uniquely placed to further global sustainability goals. Lawyers cannot do it alone: we must work hand-in-hand with legal associations around the globe to build a more sustainable profession . A profession that has both the singular ability and a solemn duty to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Ensuring the sustainability of the legal profession must be founded on the following values:
Giving back
While defending their clients' private interests, lawyers also have a duty to use their knowledge and skills for the greater good. This means providing solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges for their clients and volunteering some of their time to sustainable initiatives.
Responsibility
Lawyers may be the main guardians of the judicial system and of the just advancement of modern legal societies. These provide the foundation for a thriving economy and society. It is the lawyer's responsibility and endeavor to provide access to justice and to help citizens overcome any barriers to access.
Competence
The legal profession is committed to ongoing study and professional development. Lawyers should complement their legal knowledge with a deep familiarity of the challenges faced by the various sectors they advise, and continue to pursue their education throughout their careers.
We will work with our team and our Italian and international collaborators, and through the Scuola Legale Diffusa, in support of a green and resilient recovery that promotes sustainable growth and jobs and delivers for those most vulnerable to the impacts of change.
We are calling on all persons, legal and physical, “whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving - it doesn't matter ... "to collaborate with us in our initiatives.
Sustainability is the future. We are paving the way for positive change. The time to act is now, otherwise we will miss the challenges of our generation and irremediably jeopardise the wellbeing of future generations. Join us!
